Burdens

Silence is acting out a wordless drama

Arguing presence with absence,
Memory is negotiable.
To ignore silence
Is to consent to it
Leaving ideas and solutions to lie fallow.
Some burdens we will always carry lingering in the subconscious
Repressed of their grandeur chilled from nature
Until they are returned to their element
And given form again
Forcing them to get involved
In the flow of life.
Burdens intercept us often;
They scutter amongst themselves
Refusing to be dribbled into some corner.
Burdens gather forcing confrontation
With the unavoidable
And adding to
Our dilapidated frowns.
Forget sorrow and pain;
I refuse to be unhappy.
I won't let burdens multiply.
I believe in myself
That I can follow my dreams
To find good in everything,
To keep life simple,
To have the joy of feeling worthwhile,
The satisfaction of knowing that I have succeeded
Finding peace in simple things,
Finding warmth in others.
